Design Thinking(Discovery Of Engineering)

Sence and Sensibility
1.Problem identification
-A4 paper lying around which causes messy table.
-Have a more efficient way of sorting and organizing papers
-Huge stacks of papers causing inconvenience when sorting and organizing.
POEM
People: Students, Office Workers
Object: A4 size Papers, Paper clips, Transparency
Environment: Office, study room, home
Message: No more messy paper!
Empathy
2.Definition of problem
-Hard To Classify, Hard To Sort.
-Statement of Need: The product has to be convenient, efficient and functioning properly.
Ideation
3.Constructing a strategic for problem solving
-Design and create a product that can help users sort and organize their papers more efficiently and quickly.
4.Organizing information about a problem
Prototype
5.Allocation of resources
6.Monitoring problem solving
7.Evaluating problem solving
                               Final Design:)

OK this would meaningless if you read it from top to bottom, so slide down and read it the other way(bottom to top), so when you reach the top, throw in a comment in the tagboard to ask me any questions that you have or to acknowledge that you read the post!!!! lets get to it!!!!!

thE 3nd --~~Chester :D

so thats it for now!!! i just need you guys to ask any questions you have about what problems the design might face, and also, if you have any suggestions to simplify the design! please let me know ty!!! <3

as you can see from here different sizes cylinders will be sorted differently,

as for the top view,

im basically trying to say that the connector between the cylinder and paper clip will be of same length,

to ensure the different sizes of cylinder to fall smoothly doing the tube.

for today i actually thought of using a ball instead, due to more mobility ,

but i decided to insist on my previous cylinder shape

due to the fact that its easier to clip on the catch to slide it down.

As such the sorting tube size would only need to be increase

okay this was the main design which i made and have been saying about it for too many times alr, so hopefully AARON gets it.

the clips of different sizes

the catch to place the clips

the entire cupboard
the cylinder system when the clips will fall through

Hello Team mates, I spoke to a mechanical engineer today about the design, he said the concept was good but it was too much effort just to sort and store the paper. And with so many similar electronic options in the market, our design wasn't convincing enough. What he suggested was, since we just have to explain our idea and concept and we didn't have to produce a prototype. We could use demonstrations and add simple electronic features. So i was thinking we could use the OAS marking system to sort, we use the electronic marking system to scan the corner of the paper, users just have to shade which category the paper belongs to. Eg. shade circle 1 for finance, shade circle 2 for marketing, shade circle 3 for administrative matters. and simple motors attached to rollers to suck and dispense the papers. I have attached the diagram. Please post your comments on the idea.I will post it on the facebook group too for the benefit of those who don't visit this blog at all. Google how the MCQ marking system works. Try laser marking or electronic marking and look up the articles, quite interesting to understanding the technology.

Hello team mates! Happy 11.11.11 . Alwin will be posting our discussions we had about identifying our problem, defining our problems, POEMS, Empathy, understanding our users. Chester will be posting the concept of the  design and the prototype design. If you have any other ideas on how to sort the paper, please comment or post on our facebook group wall. We will be meeting up next week to put our discussions and draft design into powerpoint so think of ideas of how we can present our idea inside the powerpoint over the weekend. Who are our target audiences? Yes i know everyone can use them but WHO are we specifically aiming to sell the product to? And please finalise the prototype down to the specifics, i suggest using examples to explain the concept, we don't have to make the full thing but use items to demonstrate the point. If you haven't already realised...other groups are ahead of us. If we can expedite on discussions in our Facebook group, we can catch up. We already know what to do, now it's the time to put it into writing. Lastly, let us all actively participate in group discussions, make an effort to update yourself on the current project status if you have missed a lesson or discussion. We can do this alright! Please get some rest and remember Alwin's eye exercises =)
